The ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension eliminates barriers to data sharing by providing direct data access, data transformation, advanced format creation, and geoprocessing model integration. Jointly developed by ESRI and ESRI Strategic Alliance Partner Safe Software, this extension is built on Safe Software’s industry-standard Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) technology. It is also available as an extension to ArcGIS Server. With ArcGIS Data Interoperability, any standard GIS data, regardless of the format, can be used within the ArcGIS Desktop environment. The ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension is fully integrated with the geoprocessing framework in ArcGIS and can provide data read, transformation, and translation capabilities in ModelBuilder models. ArcGIS Data Interoperability features:
ArcGIS Data Interoperability requires ArcInfo 9, ArcEditor 9, or ArcView 9 or higher.
