WWF Launches WildFinder II - ArcGIS Server, Flex, Google Maps
ARLINGTON, Virginia, June 29, 2009 -- World Wildlife Fund officially released the new and dramatically improved WildFinder II. This new version showcases ArcGIS Server 9.3, Adobe Flex, Google Maps Flash API, which combined, deliver a superior user experience. Blue Raster is proud to work with WWF to bring Web 2.0 technologies to the forefront of wildlife conservation.

USAID MEASURE DHS Contract

ARLINGTON, Virginia, October 1, 2008--The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has selected the Macro team, including Blue Raster as a substantial subcontractor, to implement the MEASURE Phase III Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) contract. This $142 million, five-year contract will serve as the Bureau for Global Health's primary demographic and health data collection effort. For nearly 20 years the DHS has been a major part of USAID's initiatives to help developing countries collect and use data to monitor and evaluate population, health, and nutrition programs. Over 200 surveys have been compelted to date in more than 80 developing countries. MEASURE DHS surveys are large, nationally representative efforts, typically including 5,000 to 30,000 households and more than 10,000 respondents.

The surveys cover a range of topics including family planning, reproductive health, child health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, gender, and infectious diseases including malaria. The MEASURE DHS Phase III project also supports biomarker testing, providing countries with information on national rates of HIV, malaria, anemia, and other health threats. "The MEASURE DHS project is considered the 'gold standard' in national survey research," said Ann Way, the project director.

"DHS surveys are widely respected and used worldwide," said Dr. Way. "For the new project, we will expand efforts to build local capacity to collect, analyze, and use demographic and health data in close collaboration with our project partners: The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, PATH, CAMRIS, Blue Raster and The Futures Institute."

NCES ArcGIS Server Flex API Application Launched

ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 18, 2008--Blue Raster is pleased to announce the launch of the first of several forthcoming ArcGIS Server 9.3 Flex API applications for the Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

ESRI ArcGIS Server Flex API Holistic Testing
ARLINGTON, Virginia, July 14, 2008-- Blue Raster recently returned from ESRI Redlands after spending a week testing the new ArcGIS Server 9.3 Flex API. Our Adobe Flex team had the opportunity to work directly with the ArcGIS Server Development Team, including Mansour Raad, one of the Architects of the product. We are pleased to report that the AGS Flex API is a powerful new option looking forward and will be a natural fit for users looking to replace legacy ArcIMS applications. We already have several projects in the pipeline that will take advantage of the Adobe Flex rich internet application framework along with the advanced features of ArcGIS Server Flex API. World Bank Launches Two GIS Web Applications
WASHINGTON, DC, October 11, 2006--Blue Raster LLC was honored to participate in the launch of two interactive web mapping applications built with ESRI ArcIMS, JSP, and Oracle. The first application, Natural Disasters Hotspots, maps mortality risk and economic loss risk, and lists disaster related projects by country. Population and GDP hazard exposure is calculated for 28 combinations of seven World Bank regions and four country wealth classes. Blue Raster Develops Save the Tiger Fund Interactive Mapping

ESRI Welcomes Blue Raster into ArcData Provider Program
ARLINGTON, VA, June, 5, 2006---Blue Raster has been accepted into the ESRI ArcData Provider Program. Blue Raster is pleased to announce the immediate availability of a national parcel data set in ESRI shapefile format. The data can be acquired for any geographic area in the United States that is currently published or as a national dataset on an external hard drive. Blue Raster Develops National Health Landscape with UC/AAFP
ARLINGTON, Virginia, November 2005---Blue Raster LLC will create a web mapping application for the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati in conjunction with the American Academy of Family Physician's (AAFP), Robert Graham Center (RGC) located in Washington D.C. The mapping atlas will assist health professionals, policy makers, academic researchers and planners combine, analyze and display information and improve health and healthcare application. The RGC regularly publishes spatial data as maps indicating where physicians are located and where they are needed. To help reduce the amount of time spent by the RGC GIS resource, Blue Raster will develop the interactive GIS mapping system. The system will be built with ESRI ArcIMS, ArcSDE, SQL Server and ColdFusion. Project data includes figures from the U.S. Census, hospitals and community healthcare centers, coupled with RGC data regarding Health Care Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA), and Physician Scarcity Areas (PSA), along with U.S. Congressional boundaries. World Wildlife Fund uses ArcWeb Services to Create Wildlife Mapping Tool
ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 2005---Blue Raster LLC has developed a new search tool for the World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) Wildfinder website using ESRI's ArcWeb Services. The new site provides students, teachers, scientists and nature lovers a way to find and map information about more than 30,000 species of wildlife around the world. Blue Raster built the custom interface which provides access to the WildFinder database. Wildfinder, using ArcWeb Services, provides Web users with the latest ESRI maps. It reduces the overhead of the Wildlife database by eliminating costs such as data storage, personnel and equipment. The World Wildlife Fund pays for maps on a per-transaction basis, allowing the organization to concentrate on its mission, saving wildlife. Blue Raster helps SBA upgrade Business.gov
ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 2005---Blue Raster LLC is helping the Small Business Administration (SBA) enhance the Business Gateway website. Business Gateway, part of Business.gov, improves government services delivery to citizens through technology. One component of the Business.gov tool, (www.business.gov) is a searchable Q and A compliance document database used by small business owners. Blue Raster is gathering information from government agency interviews, data calls and focus groups seeking advice and analysis to increase the functionality of the Q and A compliance tool. Blue Raster will conduct research to produce a Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) document of the Business Gateway, including system, security, usability, and user interface requirements. The Business Gateway satisfies a requirement of the Small Business Paperwork Relief Act of 2000, which reduces government paperwork and simplifies access to documentation. Blue Raster's partners in the project are M Squared Technologies and the North Highland Company. The upgraded business.gov website is scheduled for launch in the Fall of 2006.
